This necklace is handmade in sterling silver, embossed with delicate fabric creating an intricate pattern which is unique to each piece. The linms are riveted together and embellished with 24ct gold dots using ancient techniques to fuse the gold to the surface of the silver.

The industrial feel created by clean lines and interlockinv riveted links is contrasted with the delicate texture of imprinted metal.

It sits just below the collar bone and looks great with scooped or V necklines adding a little edge to any casual as well as formal outfit.

Sandra Hartwieg graduated from the National College of Art and Design in 2011 with a BA in History of Art and Fine Art, specialising in Sculpture. She initially pursued an interest in traditional goldsmithing through evening classes at the School of Jewellery in Dublin. She chose to apply to the full-time DCCoI Jewellery and Goldsmithing Skills & Design Course for the intensive two-year programme to develop her goldsmithing skills. Sandra got the opportunity to go on work placement at Appleby’s Jewellery workshop in Dublin and Rudolf Heltzel's in Kilkenny where she gained valuable jewellery industry experience. Her design process begins with drawing from a series of visual inspiration collected from books and online as well as from her own photography. Concept and form are defined on paper and the process continues in the workshop by experimenting with pattern and texture in metal. Linear Dot is her first Jewellery collection and takes inspiration from mechanical moving parts in industrial machinery. The industrial feel created by clean lines and riveting is contrasted with the delicate texture imprinted into the metal. The collection is about the relationship between the industrial and natural, dark and light, hard and soft, handmade and machine-made. When worn the final contrast is created between the wearer and the jewellery, the pieces are industrial and hard edged, yet subtly elegant when worn.
